asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will make a statement about constitutional developments in Malaya.

Mr. Creech Jones

The Consultative Committee appointed by the Governor of the Malayan Union last December to seek the views of all interested communities and individuals on the Federation proposals has presented its report, which will be published in Kuala Lumpur very shortly. I will arrange for copies to be placed in the Library of the House as soon as available. After discussing the report with his Advisory Council the Governor will send me his own recommendations and I hope to be able to inform Parliament later about the proposals as a whole.
