§ Mr. StracheyUnfavourable weather delayed the ripening of outdoor tomatoes and affected their quality. Substantial quantities were found to be unfit for long-distance travel with the result that some markets, particularly in the South, became temporarily overloaded. Arrangements have been made, in suitable cases, for surplus supplies to be processed and individual growers who have difficulty in disposing of their produce should seek the assistance of the local Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Area Officer.
