§ Mr. de FreitasApproximately 2,000 Poles joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve between September, 1939, and August, 1940, and during that period two of them received British awards for gallantry and distinguished service. On 5th August, 1940, the Poles were withdrawn from the R.A.F.V.R. and formed84W the nucleus of the Polish Air Force serving under R.A.F. Command. It would be contrary to the practice of His Majesty's Government to state the number of British decorations awarded to members of an Allied Force.
