HC Deb 29 October 1946 vol 428 c61W
Lieut.-Colonel Sharp

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what progress has been made by the Central Electricity Board in arranging for the building of new power stations and extensions to existing plant; how many of these plants, and to what generating capacity, are nearing completion; and whether he will ensure that such completion is not held up because essential supplies are being allocated elsewhere.

Mr. Shinwell

The Central Electricity Board have arranged for the construction of 45 new stations or extensions of existing stations with a total generating capacity of 3,209,000 kilowatts. Fifteen with a capacity of 521,000 kilowatts are nearing completion, I am not aware of any case in which completion is being delayed owing to shortage of materials.
