HC Deb 29 October 1946 vol 428 c64W
Mr. Vane

asked the Minister of Labour why the deferment from call-up granted to agricultural workers is not extended to men registered as pigmen or poultrymen; and whether he will arrange that all men so employed full time will be treated equally with other agricultural workers.

Mr. Isaacs

The call-up of pigmen and poultrymen is deferred whenever the district manpower board is satisfied that this is necessary in the circumstances of the individual case. I cannot agree that the automatic deferment of all such men would be justified.
