HC Deb 28 October 1946 vol 428 cc40-1W
13. Mr. Randall

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that firms engaged on the production of agricultural and woodworking machinery are unable to obtain all types of mild steel; and if he will take steps to make supplies available.

Mr. Wilmot

In spite of a very high rate of production there is a shortage of all types of mild steel, due to the enormous demand. I can, however, assure my hon. Friend that in view of the importance of agricultural and woodworking machinery, I am doing all I can to meet requirements of steel for this purpose within the limited supplies available.
