HC Deb 28 October 1946 vol 428 cc39-40W
6. Squadron-Leader Kinghorn

asked the Minister of Supply if he will take steps to allow small stocks of lead to be kept by house-repairers and others who will have to deal with burst water-pipes in frosty weather during the coming winter.

Mr. Wilmot

No, Sir. We must avoid immobilising stocks of this material of which there is an acute shortage, but the existing arrangements, under which the necessary materials to carry out urgent repairs to sanitary fittings can be obtained from builders' merchants, should be adequate to meet this contingency.
