§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the need for rural sanitary authorities to provide pumping apparatus for emptying cess-pits and septic tanks, the lack of which causes conditions dangerous to health, as in the example furnished to him; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. BevanWhere local authorities have undertaken the responsibility of cleansing cesspools and similar receptacles, it is usual for them to provide pumping equipment suitable for the purpose, or to arrange for the work to be carried out by contractors, and no action 37W by me seems to be called for. I am writing to the hon. Member about the particular case referred to in his Question.
