HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c278W
Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport, whether he will appoint a small departmental committee of experts and economists to work out the principle upon which future rail, road and canal freight-charges should be based, in order to encourage the transport and handling of commodities at the lowest real cost to the community, consistent with the provision of a proper standard of service.

Mr. Barnes

My hon. Friend's suggestion will be borne in mind in connexion with the Government's proposals for the reorganisation of transport.
