§ Mr. Gunterasked the Minister of Works if he has now given consideration to the representations of the Benfleet Urban District Council that Hadleigh Castle should be acquired by the National Trust and preserved as an ancient monument.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI have not received any representations to this effect from the Benfleet Urban District Council, but I recognise the importance of Hadleigh Castle and, if the owners are willing to place it in my guardianship under the Ancient Monuments Acts, I will accept the offer.
