HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c291W
102. Mr. Marlowe

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that large numbers of those entitled to the issue of 26 clothing coupons to men demobilised after 18th June, 1945, will be debarred from applying by reason of having lost their demobilisation clothing book containing the requisite application form; and whether he will devise some alternative form of application.

Sir S. Cripps

The production of this form, as well as of the release certificate, is necessary because a considerable number of demobilised men and women have been issued with more than one release certificate each. The greatest care has been taken to give ample warnings both in the book itself and through the Press that the form must be carefully retained. In the circumstances, I hardly think that the number of those who have lost their books can be large, and indeed few requests for the replacement of the form have so far been received by my Department.
