§ 60. Colonel Gomme-Duncanasked the Minister of Labour what facilities are available in rural areas for training ex-Servicemen and others in the trades of thatching, shoeing smith and dry-stone ditching.
§ Mr. IsaacsArrangements for training blacksmith-farrier fitters have already been agreed with the industrial interests concerned and 47 men are at present being trained under the scheme. A scheme for the training of thatchers is under discussion with the various Departments concerned and the Rural Industries Bureau and will, I hope, shortly be agreed. No scheme has so far been arranged for dry-stone dyking, but I am making inquiries into the position in this occupation.
