§ Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyreasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total sum of the contribution due from this country to the capital of the International Monetary Fund and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development; and, of this amount, what is payable, respectively, in gold, dollars and sterling.
§ Mr. DaltonOur total contribution to the Fund is £325 million, of which an amount equivalent to 10 per cent. of our net official holdings of gold and dollars is payable in gold and the balance in sterling. Our maximum contribution to the Bank is £325 million. Of this £58½ million is payable in sterling and 26 million dollars. The balance, if needed 225W to implement a guarantee, can be called up in gold or the currency required to implement the guarantee.
