§ 145. Major N. Macphersonasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty why ammunition boxes surplus to requirements at Mossband factory are broken up for disposal as firewood instead of being sold to the public intact.
Mr. DugdaleI assume the hon. Member is referring to the Royal Naval Mine Depot, Longtown, now used as a clearance centre for empty ammunition boxes. Only boxes which are damaged beyond repair and unfit for any other purpose are broken up for sale as firewood. All sound boxes are disposed of intact through the usual disposal channels.
