§ 128. Commander Nobleasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether members of the National Coal Board and the Divisional Coal Boards are permitted to take an active part in party politics.
§ Mr. ShinwellExcept for the disqualification set out in Section 2 (4) of the Coal Industry Nationalisation Act which debars a member of the Board from being a member of this House, there is no statutory provision to prevent a member of the National Coal Board, or of its Divisional Boards and other staff from taking an active part in politics. I understand that the Board have not yet considered their general attitude on this subject.
