§ Mr. MarquandThe Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which includes tyre and wheel manufacturers, has 271W for many years given close attention to the question of standardising tyre sizes. There has been substantial progress made in this difficult technical subject and a great reduction in the number of tyre and wheel sizes has been achieved. It is, however, still necessary to provide replacement tyres for the large number of older car models still in service.
