§ Sir S. CrippsProduction of woollen underwear and of knitwear has been rather better this year than last, though both are limited by the continuing yarn shortage. Further, to ensure the largest possible supplies of underwear for the home market, licences for export have been severely restricted since July last. Except for small quantities of non-utility goods specially produced for export, this restriction will remain until I am satis-174W fled that exports can be expanded without hardship to the home consumer.
