§ Mr. C. S. Taylorasked the Attorney-General why S.R. & O. No. 1759 of 1946, entitled Record Offices, England, Disposal of Valueless Documents, dated 29th October, 1946, was delayed from 19th June, 1946, until 29th October, 1946, before it was brought before the Privy Council.
The Solicitor-GeneralStatutory Rule and Order No 1759 of 1946 was signed by the Master of the Rolls on 19th June, 1946. After submission to the Treasury and the two Departments for which it was made, the Rule was laid before Parliament on 22nd July, 1946. Pursuant to 173W the Public Record Office Acts of 1877 and 1898, the Rule was required to lie before Parliament for the statutory period of nine weeks. This period expired on 23rd September, and it was sent to the Privy Council Office on that date. The rule was approved at the first Council after the date of its receipt by that Office.
