asked the Minister of Pensions the number of bereaved parents in receipt of pensions in 1920 and 1946, respectively; and the average weekly amount of pension received in each case.

The numbers were approximately 356,000 at 30th September, 1920, and 155,000, including 112,000 of the 1914 War, at 30th September, 1946. The average weekly values were 9s. 6d. and 10s. respectively. The average weekly value of the pensions in payment to parents in respect of 1939 War cases is just over 15s. a week.
