HC Deb 21 November 1946 vol 430 c141W
3. Mr. G. Williams

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if, in view of the necessity for raising the standing of driving throughout the country, he will provide sufficient petrol to enable schools for motorists to give instruction to all who may apply for it.

Mr. Shinwell

Petrol allowances for motor driving schools were considerably increased last June in view of the proposed re-introduction of driving tests and the increased demand for driving tuition. If the hon. Member knows of any case where pupils are waiting for lessons which cannot be undertaken on the allowance granted and will let me have particulars, I shall he glad to look into the matter
