HC Deb 21 November 1946 vol 430 cc180-1W
Mr. Bartlett

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that at all hours of the day there is a queue of Service men and women outside the information office in Trafalgar Square; and whether he will consult his colleagues in the other Service Departments with a view to increasing the staff of this office.

Mr. Bellenger

The information office at Trafalgar Square is not operated by the Service Departments but by a philanthropic organisation, the Nuffield Trust, for the Forces of the Crown. The queues form, I understand, because it is the custom of the Trust to give away a certain number of theatre tickets at various times of the day and members of the Forces queue up in advance of these times in order to get tickets.
