§ 102. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will issue a White Paper each year similar to that recently issued for Wales, recording a summary of Government activities in each of the countries concerned.
Mr. Creech JonesAs I have previously stated, I am considering the question of resuming next year the practice of presenting to Parliament an annual statement which will meet a similar purpose to that served by the statement furnished with the Estimates for Colonial and Middle Eastern Services in 1938 and 1939 (Command Papers. Nos. 5760 and 6023). Also as stated in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Swindon (Mr. T. Reid) on 30th October, Colonial Governments are being asked to resume the issue of their annual reports.
