§ 65. Sir W. Wakefieldasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why approximately £1,000 has had to be paid in Purchase Tax for the Swedish Home Exhibition at the Building Centre, in view of the fact that the furniture and furnishing exhibits are not for sale but only lent 63W and are to be returned to Sweden; and what action he is proposing to take to refund this money to the promoters of the exhibition.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallThere is no legal provision under which these exhibits could be admitted without payment of Purchase Tax but my right hon. Friend has authorised repayment when the goods are re-exported.
