HC Deb 06 November 1946 vol 428 cc291-2W
Mr. J. P. L. Thomas

asked the Minister of Health whether he is now able to hand over the Drill Hall Camp, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, to the local council in order that they may exercise control and put through work of conversion and adaptation for the comfort and convenience of the present inhabitants of this camp.

Mr. Bevan

This camp is required by the War Department and cannot be released to the local authority for housing purposes. The future of the present inhabitants is receiving urgent consideration by the committee which has been set up in the region to settle the disposal of camps.

Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Health whether the hutments in Elm-bridge Drive, Ruislip, are to be taken over by the local authority; what steps have been taken to provide elementary services and facilities for heating; and whether the present occupants have been informed that tenancy is to be accepted.

Mr. Bevan

I am having inquiries made and will communicate with my hon. Friend.
