HC Deb 06 November 1946 vol 428 cc247-8W
59. Mr. Hollis

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that grocers in country districts are refusing to accept apples from local growers on the ground that if they did not take foreign apples they would lose their allocation of oranges; and what is the authority for this action.

Mr. Strachey

If this is so, the growers are acting under a complete misapprehension and I am glad of the opportunity to make a public statement that we shall not stop a man's allocations of imported fruit merely because he had refused a particular previous allocation
