HC Deb 05 November 1946 vol 428 c242W
Mr. A. Edward Davies

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning what arrangements he has now made to survey and replan North Staffordshire; what local authorities are concerned; and what will be the terms of reference.

Mr. Silkin

After consultation with the authorities concerned, I have arranged for Sir Patrick Abercrombie to prepare an outline plan of physical development for the W. Midlands, covering the counties of Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire. The plan will be prepared in two parts, the first covering the whole of the three counties excepting N. Staffordshire; the second, to follow shortly thereafter, covering N. Staffordshire. The second part will include the areas of the following authorities: Stoke-on-Trent C.B.C., Newcastle-under-Lyme B.C., Newcastle-under-Lyme R.D.C., Cheadle R.D.C., Leek R.D.C., Stone R.D.C., Leek U.D.C., Stone U.D.C., Biddulph U.D.C., Kidsgrove U.D.C.

Advisory committees of representatives of the local authorities concerned will be available for consultation with Sir Patrick Abercombie and his staff on matters affecting the areas. The advisory committee for N. Staffordshire will include representatives of the ten authorities listed above and also of the Staffordshire C.C. which is the planning authority for parts of this area.
