§ 109. Mr. Wyattasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is taking any special steps to investigate the living and service conditions of British troops overseas; and whether he is satisfied that everything possible is being done to improve these conditions, especially in the Middle and Far East.
§ Mr. BellengerYes, Sir. I am taking the closest interest in this matter. No effort is being spared to improve living and service conditions within the limit of resources available to us. At my request my hon. Friend the Financial Secretary is undertaking a tour of overseas stations beginning this month. He will be away six or seven weeks, carrying out an inspection and will report direct to me on his return. Other members of the Army Council will pay similar visits to troops abroad.
