HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c190W
Mr. Astor

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether the delivery of Forces' mail to S.E.A.C. will be so regularised that the long delays between deliveries, resulting in the delivery of some 12 letters at a time, can be avoided.

Mr. Bellenger

I have been asked to reply. In the past few months there has been some difficulty with the air mail service to S.E.A.C. chiefly because of bad weather, but the greatest interval between arrivals in Singapore, Rangoon and Hong Kong has been four, seven and eight days. Difficulties of communication may further affect deliveries to outlying units.
