HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 cc190-1W
124. Brigadier Low

asked the Minister of Health whether he intends to issue instructions to local authorities in London and the Home Counties that houses at present under requisition belonging to civil servants who were evacuated from London to the provinces during the war, should be released to the civil servant immediately he or she returns to Government work in London.

Mr. Key

Every effort is made to release houses held on requisition where the owner desires to re-occupy the house and has, by reason of his work or by release from the Forces, found it necessary to return to London, but no undertaking can be given other than that local authorities will continue to consider every case sympathetically on its merits.
