HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c191W
Mr. Granville

asked the Minister of Health what representations he has received from the National Farmers' Union and the Agricultural Workers' Union for priorities to be given to agricultural workers for cottages in the housing programme allocation; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Bevan

The National Farmers Union have sent me a memorandum on rural housing, in which the view is expressed that steps should be taken to ensure that the majority of the new cottages erected in the countryside are occupied by agricultural workers. In accordance with a request made by the Union officers of my Department and the Ministry of Agriculture discussed the memorandum with representatives of the Union on 1st November. The National Union of Agricultural Workers have sent me a copy of a letter in which they have communicated their views on this matter to the National Farmers' Union.
