§ 132. Mr. J. Evansasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now consider introducing legislation to amend the law affecting the estate of an adopted child so that, in the event of the child dying before reaching the age of 21 years, any estate left by the deceased shall automatically become the property of the foster-parent and not pass into the hands of the next of kin.
§ Mr. OliverThe view of the Committee of 1925 which carefully considered this point was that it would be inadvisable to attempt to amend the law relating to succession in the case of adopted children, but my right hon. Friend will gladly consider any evidence which my hon. Friend may care to submit in support of his suggestion.
