HC Deb 01 November 1946 vol 428 cc159-60W
Sir J. Mellor

asked the Secretary of State for War how many motor vehicles fit for reconditioning for official, commercial or private use, have been discarded by the Army since the conclusion of hostilities; how many have been sold; and how have the remainder been dealt with.

Mr. Bellenger

At the latest convenient date the Army had declared 262,814 vehicles to the Ministry of Supply as surplus. I understand that the disposal records of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply do not distinguish between Army and other Government surplus vehicles so that the information asked for in the latter part of the Question is not available.
