§ 95. Sir R. Youngasked the Minister of Labour what are the functions and responsibilities of the National Institute of Houseworkers; whether the appointment of the chairman of its board of directors has been made by his Department or on a recommendation by him; and whether any report has been issued which outlines the work to be done by this organisation.
§ Mr. IsaacsI would refer my hon. Friend to the statement which I made on 7th February, 1946, a copy of which I am sending to him, in which I gave an outline of the functions of the National Institute of Houseworkers and an indication of the activities it would undertake during the early experimental period. The appointment of the Board of Directors rests with me. Miss Dorothy Elliott has accepted my invitation to be chairman of the 157W Board and I hope to be in a position to announce the appointment of the other directors at an early date.
