§ 84. Mrs. Mannasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation why the single fare from Renfrew airport to Belfast is 50s. whilst only 30s. from Prestwick; and, in view of the extra seating capacity of the Dakotas, if he will consider abolishing the differentiation.
Mr. Ivor ThomasThese two fares arc not strictly comparable. The route from Prestwick is about 25 miles shorter than that from Renfrew, and the Renfrew fare of 50s., unlike the Prestwick fare of 30s., includes free surface transport to and from the airfield at each end. With regard to the second part of the Question, a revision of the fare schedule for all internal services is now under consideration, and the Belfast—Renfrew fare, which cannot be taken in isolation, is included in the general review.
