HC Deb 21 May 1946 vol 423 c43W
54. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is satisfied that the recent increases in the price of clothing, motor cars and other goods, resulting from increased wages, are not causing inflation; and whether it is proposed to take any particular steps to introduce a wage policy to deal with this issue.

Mr. Dalton

As I said in my Budget Speech, the risk of inflation will remain serious until there are more goods in the shops, and the only real remedy is increased production.
