HC Deb 21 May 1946 vol 423 c48W
85. Lieut.-Commander Clark Hutchison

asked the Minister of Works why the allocation of Arcon prefabricated houses for Scotland has been reduced from 10,000 to 8,000 units; and what steps he proposes to take to utilise the manufacturing capacity which Scottish contractors have been holding available for the 2,000 houses which have been cancelled.

Mr. Tomlinson

There is no present intention of altering the number of Arcon temporary houses allocated to Scotland. Contracts placed in Scotland for the joinery work have produced sufficient supplies for the time being but further orders will be placed provided satisfactory prices are obtained, as soon as it is necessary.
