asked the Minister of Education the total number of teachers now released from the Services under Class A and Class B

Up to 3oth April, 8,491 teachers, including Scottish teachers, had been released from the Forces in Class B. No information is available on the number released in Class A, but up to 31st March, 1946, the total number of teachers who had returned from war service, whether in Classes A or B or otherwise, to schools and colleges maintained or aided by local education authorities in England and Wales alone, was 13,467.
