§ 124. Mr. Swinglerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many German military and political officials in Spain, whose repatriation has been requested by the Allied Control Commission but who have not yet been handed over, have been granted Spanish nationality by General Franco.
Mr. McNeilSo far as I am aware there are none. The Spanish Government have assured His Majesty's Embassy at Madrid that they will not grant Spanish nationality to any Germans. On the other hand they have refused to assist in the repatriation of a substantial number of Germans, including former officials and agents whom they regard as "Incorported in Spanish life " by virtue of their long residence in Spain, marriage with Spanish women, or humanitarian and other services during the civil war.
