§ 114. Major Bruceasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the recruitment since November, 1945, of special service writers has been successful in making up for the deficiencies in numbers in this branch resulting from the failure to recruit long service men during the war years.
Mr. Dugdale:Since the temporary suspension of the open competitive examination, the number of writers entered on Special Service Engagements has been just sufficient to meet requirements, but the shortage of experienced Writers will persist for some time.
