HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 cc262-3W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Prime Minister when it is intended to publish the despatches of various commanders-in-chief on operations during the war; and if he is now in a position to indicate the order in which these documents will be issued.

The Prime Minister:

The publication of despatches will begin very shortly. Five despatches by Army commanders relating to operations in the early part of the war have been sent to press and will start coming out as Supplements to the "London Gazette" within the next fortnight or so. Thereafter further despatches, including some by Naval and Air Force commanders, will be published from time to time. The despatches of each Service will be issued in more or less chronological order. I cannot say how long the process will take, as the despatches relating to some of the later campaigns have not yet been received.
