§ 84. Mr. S. Shephardasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that holders of priority dockets for utility furniture are now having to wait more than six months for delivery; and what steps he is taking to increase production.
§ Mr. Belcher:I am aware that delays of six months in the delivery of utility upholstered furniture are, unfortunately, still not uncommon, but the average delay for all articles throughout the country is about two months. Production is now nearly four times as great as it was a year ago, and we are continually trying to improve the supply of this furniture by the allocation of increased quantities of raw materials in the industry, including surplus stocks of textiles, and by the increased use of metal and other substitutes for wood.
