HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 c243W
Major N. Macpherson

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what disciplinary action has been taken against the officer or officers responsible for the administrative blunder whereby accommodation destined for officers travelling as passengers on H.M.S. "Fifeness" from New York to the United Kingdom was labelled native quarters, thereby provoking an act of disobedience by 15 officers of the R.N.R. and R.N.V.R.; and whether he will review the sentences passed upon these officers on 24th April with a view to mitigation.

Mr. Dugdale:

The proceedings, findings and sentences of this as of other courts martial will shortly be reviewed by the Admiralty and the circumstances under which these notices were posted and the failure to remove them are being investigated in connection with this review.
