HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 cc182-3W
114. Mr. Cocks

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he has been able to make arrangements with the Ministry of Supply for pocket watches to be made available for key men working underground in the coalmines.

Mr. Shinwell:

I am informed by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply that a very large number of pocket watches have recently been released for distribution through normal trade channels. In the event, however, of underground key workers not finding it possible to obtain pocket watches in the ordinary way, I have made arrangements to advise where individual requirements may be purchased if they are notified through Colliery managements to my Mining Supplies Officer.
