HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 c220W
Mr. A. Edward Davies

asked the Minister of Supply for what purpose the royal ordnance factories at Swynnerton and Radway Green are at present being used; the number of staff employed; and what his plans are for the future use of these establishments.

Mr. Leonard:

These factories are engaged on production work for the Services, on the special packing of Service stores and on the breaking down of surplus weapons and ammunition. They are also undertaking the production of housing fitments and have on hand a few orders for the normal requirements of industry and of U.N.R.R.A. The factories will be retained as part of the permanent establishment of the Royal Ordnance Factories. The number employed at Radway Green is approximately 1,680 and at Swynnerton approximately 2,900.
