HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 c218W
Captain C. Smith

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he has any further statement to make on demobilisation arrangements for education officers in the R.A.F.

Mr. Strachey:

There have been no major changes in the arrangements for releasing temporary members of the. R.A.F. Educational Service. The Service procedure of demobilisation does not apply to these officers because they are civil servants, who are not on the Active List of the Royal Air Force; and for the same reason they are ineligible for Service release benefits. The Air Ministry has, however, made arrangements for them to be released broadly in step with the R.A.F. release programme, and they have all been told when they will be free to leave the Educational Service. On their release they are given an extra allowance of clothing coupons; they are also given time off during their last month of service if they need it for making arrangements connected with their change of employment.
