HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 cc218-9W
Mr. Mitchison

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what group of instrument makers is now being released; and what forecast he can give of releases in that trade.

Mr. Strachey:

By the end of this month we shall have released instrument makers and repairers in group 35. We have told the Service that during the following two months we only expect to release one more group in these trades, which means that by the end of July their release will be three groups behind the general level. The recruits' training courses for instrument work take up to six months, and our difficulty is that this training programme has not yet had time to catch up with the accelerated release for the Service as a whole.
