HC Deb 13 May 1946 vol 422 c159W
Mr. G. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that a child was recently charged in a police court in Nassau, Bahamas, with skipping school on two occasions and was ordered four lashes by the magistrate, which whipping was administered by the police; and whether he will take steps to prevent the flogging of children in territory under British control.

Mr. George Hall:

I am making inquiries into the instance of whipping quoted by my hon. Friend and will communicate with him further when a reply has been received.
