HC Deb 13 May 1946 vol 422 c153W
Mr. Renton

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air why members of 209 Squadron, R.A.F., at Kai Tek, S.E.A.A.F., have not been receiving their mail regularly during the past six months; and whether he will take steps to ensure that mail is regularly delivered to this squadron.

Mr. Strachey:

I know that in November and December last year there were considerable delays in the delivery of air mail to members of the Royal Air Force in the Far East. There may also have been particular difficulties when the unit to which the hon. Member refers moved from Ceylon to Hong Kong. These delays have been overcome and the daily airmail service is now taking an average of seven days to reach Hong Kong.
