HC Deb 13 May 1946 vol 422 c146W
92. Mr. D. Marshall

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the value of our export trade in 1938 calculated in fine gold; and how this compares with the first three months of 1946 calculated on the same basis.

Mr. Marquand:

The export trade of the United Kingdom in 1938 was equivalent to 66 million ounces of fine gold. The corresponding figure for the first quarter of 1946 is 21.4 million ounces.
