§ Mr. Dalton:I presume that this Question refers to Lord Alanbrooke, who is not, however, Commander-in-Chief in His Majesty's Army—a post which was abolished in 1904—but has ,just retired from the post, of Chief of the Imperial General Staff, which he has filled with very great distinction. This appointment has been made because, Lord Alanbrooke is, in the view of His Majesty's Government, admirably qualified for it
